The Frogs Arrived in time for Easter

There is nothing quite like the sound of frogs calling out in the night. How many frogs can you find in these photos? There are a lot more than you think.
As the temperatures have risen, the koi have become more active in the pond and they greedily devour frog eggs.

Squeaky says "Happy April Fool's Day"!

No fooling here, just some photos from the Americus Garden Inn. The curly filbert, the most unusual plant in our garden, is the prettiest without foliage as you can see its truly contorted form.

The Garden Comes Alive

Allow me to take you on a tour of our garden, here at the Americus Garden Inn.

Usually, the azaleas are the amazing blooms of March here in Americus. This year, in our garden, the ruby lorapetalum are gorgeous. The lilies of the valley are in full swing.
The yoshino cherries were a little late for the cherry blossom festival.
But, they are absolutely breathtaking today.
The weeping cherry looks magical.

The magenta color of the saucer magnolia catches your attention.

Today was a rainy, uncomfortable day for our kitties, as you can see by Rufus' expression. But, the camellias are loving the cool temperatures and the rain.
And, the saucer magnolias are just starting to come out. They are beautiful!

A Great Morning in Americus

As you approach the Americus Garden Inn, the daffodils greet you in all their glory.
Today we had nutty pancakes using toasted pecans we harvested from one of our trees along with bite-size frittatas. This year has been the coldest winter in the 7 years we have been in Americus. But, as the temperatures have returned to normal, the signs of spring are evident.

The ruby lorapetalum is blooming profusely.

Yet, it is still cold enough for the camellias.

Spring is on its way to Americus

With all the unpredictable weather this year, the winter flowers are comingling with the early spring blooms. The camellias love this cold weather.

The holly plants, surrounding the pond, are totally loaded with bright red berries.
The nandina are also displaying large clusters of bright red berries.

But, here comes the hint of spring...

with the first daffodils making their debut!

The Japanese magnolia is covered in white blossoms

beautifully highlighting the crisp blue sky.
