Easter Garden Treasures

Happy Easter!

A stroll through the garden revealed a treasure trove of blooms. These are some of our knockout roses. Remember to click the photos for a larger view.
The oakleaf hydrangea has begun to bloom.

A pomegranate blossom by the gazebo.

Stella d'oro daylilies in the side garden.

Crinum lilies in one of our planters.

One of several salvia varieties in the garden.

Whirling butterflies or guara.

Most of the oleander is full of buds, but, several blooms have appeared.

Happy returns daylilies on the path.

Creeping jasmine blooms near the entry point to the back garden. Wish I could share the incredible aroma with you!

The pond iris are almost finished blooming, but, these 2 beauties remain.

The First of July Hummingbird Tour of Americus Garden Inn

While waiting for our guests to arrive, I saw a hummingbird and grabbed the camera.I followed the hummingbird around the garden.
The hummingbird went from one bed of flowers to the next.

I followed and tried to get a good angle.

The hummingbird seemed to sample every type of flower in the garden.

But, every time I tried to take a picture, he had already moved on.

However, I didn't realize we had new buds on the saucer magnolia.

Or that the lythrum has really filled in beautifully.

The bed of stargazer lilies has exploded with blooms so fragrant you can enjoy them throughout the garden.

And, the crinum lilies continue to flourish in several beds scattered through the garden

Last, but not least, a single water lily is closing its petals for the evening.

Pre Mother's Day Tour in Americus

This is the view from the veranda. The oakleaf hydrangea have an intoxicating perfume.Looking the other way, still on the veranda, the canna lilies are taking over the side yard.
You can see the iris, the daylilies, black-eyed susan's and the cannas.

From behind the stone arch, there are rozeanne geraniums with pink and yellow echinacea on the opposite side.

The oakleaf hydrangea, from the front of the house, appears to be overflowing with blooms.

From the side yard, looking west towards the front, the parrotia tree has leafed out.
You can see the pecan tree on the right, the ruby lorapetalum left front, goldmound spirea towards the center and the huge azaleas to the left of the parrotia. In the far right corner, knock-out roses and little gem magnolias.

July in the Garden at Americus Garden Inn

The gardens at the Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast are looking beautiful. Here are some photos I took recently in the garden.

This is a beautiful example of Little Business Daylilies.

Here is a photo of the view from the back porch on a recent sunny day. The vitex tree is in full bloom and absolutely gorgeous.

Here is a variety of echinacea you might not have seen before, Kim's knee high.

We have crinum lilies in white and pink.

This variety of canna is called canna tropicana. The foliage is brightly colored as are the flowers.
