My First Blog Entry Ever
Welcome to the first blog entry for the Americus Garden Inn Bed & Breakfast. With the economic crisis and the gas shortages, you may think that you cannot afford to getaway. An "escape from the ordinary" may be just the ticket. Americus, Georgia, located in Southwest Georgia, is less than a 3 hour drive from Atlanta, Montgomery and Tallahassee. On less than a tank of gas, you can explore this incredibly historic area. We have 2 National Historic Sites within a 15 minute drive. Andersonville National Historic Site comprised of Camp Sumter, the most infamous Civil War prison, Andersonville Military Cemetery and the National POW museum. Very powerful and thought-provoking. Jimmy Carter National Historic Site comprised of his boyhood home, the museum and welcome center, the train depot which served as his campaign headquarters, and the most recent addition - Billy Carter's Service Station has been restored as a museum. Entry to both National Historic Sites is FREE!
