Pre Mother's Day Tour in Americus

This is the view from the veranda. The oakleaf hydrangea have an intoxicating perfume.Looking the other way, still on the veranda, the canna lilies are taking over the side yard.
You can see the iris, the daylilies, black-eyed susan's and the cannas.

From behind the stone arch, there are rozeanne geraniums with pink and yellow echinacea on the opposite side.

From the side yard, looking west towards the front, the parrotia tree has leafed out.
You can see the pecan tree on the right, the ruby lorapetalum left front, goldmound spirea towards the center and the huge azaleas to the left of the parrotia. In the far right corner, knock-out roses and little gem magnolias.

Lots of rain brings frogs and flowers to Americus

We had an abundance of rain yesterday through this morning. There was a lot of commotion in and around the pond and Squeaky was on patrol. There were frogs,
and frogs,

and more frogs

everywhere

in and around the pond.

The first blossom of pink echinacea.

Nancy of Robin Hill azaleas are finally in bloom.

A gorgeous purple iris just appeared.

May Day Flowers in Americus

It is hard to believe that May is upon us. The azaleas have begun to fade, the daffodils are gone and the white iris are just about finished. The new blooms in the garden are:rozanne geranium
yellow echinacea

stella d'oro daylilies

happy returns daylilies

the first black-eyed susan.

April Showers Bring April Flowers

It rained yesterday and the garden is happy.There are snowballs

and weigela.

The oakleaf hydrangea is full of buds.

The ornamental plum is full of fruit.

The false indigo (baptisia) is just starting to bloom

in purple

and yellow.

The Chinese fringe tree is beautiful.

Can you smell the banana shrub?

Through the holly, to the porch, you can see

the koi pond

and the iris in full bloom.

A Beautiful Day in Americus Georgia

The Red Dragon Japanese Maple has filled out beautifully. Let's take a little stroll down the path.
We can relax for a moment or two on the bench.

Check out the Knock-Out Roses.

Looking across from the bench, we can see Rufus, Squeaky and Kitten enjoying the shade under the Vitex tree.

On closer look, our neighbor's cats are enjoying a cool drink from the pond.

Along the edge of the pond, you can see some of the tadpoles are almost frogs.

Iris, Azalea and Holly

The azaleas are popping everywhere. In all colors
The holly by the pond is blooming, yet, still has berries.

The iris have arrived.

Spring in Americus is gorgeous.

Japanese Maples and Tadpoles

The view from the parking area to the gazebo. Several nights ago the frogs were singing and now we have tadpoles.
Tadpoles are a favorite treat for the koi.

First society garlic bloom of the year.

Pink dogwoods have just arrived.

One of my favorite trees in our garden, the Red Dragon, a Japanese maple.

The Bloodgood maple, another Japanese variety, highlights the gazebo.
